Erotic Horror- the next craze?

If you would have asked me last year or even months ago if the words 'erotic' and 'horror' went together I would have said no. That response is from the movie-watcher in me. Even though they often show naked bodies in horror movies rarely do they do full erotic scenes. Well move over Jason, Freddy and Michael 'cause this wave of erotic horror books I've been hearing about/reading/writing are hitting the public and a whole new era is coming of age! Authors such as Elizabeth Black, Tresart L. Sioux and Sommer Marsden are writing horror stories ... and they are hot as hell! I enjoy this genre so much that I attempted to mix my love for zombies and erotica. Zombie Apocalypse: First Responder flew from my fingertips- a lesbian erotic horror. Hmm, wonder if I labelled that correctly? The talented Sommer Marsden accepted my short story to include in the Coming Together: Hungry for a Cure anthology. This book is to be released on Halloween of 2012 and I can't wait to read all of the stories. The time of erotic horror is NOW. I fully expect to see this phenomenon expand to the movie industry and beyond. Maybe we'll see specific genres? Zombie erotica, Werewolf erotica or even vampire erotica? Come to think of it those are all paranormal. Maybe it's just me that recently discovered this love for all things horror. It may be the time of year. Regardless, I love it and hope it continues. Drop by my website this month for a serialized free read Fantasy Inker and the release links to Hungry for Love. What think ye?

Thanks for mentioning me, Kissa. :) I don't think there's as much of a market for erotic horror as I wish there were. Erotic fans don't like the horror and horror fans don't like the explicit sex. Splatterpunk is an example of extreme horror that sometimes includes explicit sex. I've written it as well as cybersexpunk (the same thing but from a science fiction angle). I did get spanked but good from a traditional horror publisher when I sent an outrageous erotic horror story. That story was finally published in "Mirages: Tales From Authors Of The Macabre". The closest you'll get to erotic horror in some respects is splatterpunk but that's out of fashion now. It was big in the '90s. I say if you like writing it, go for it but be aware it's a hard sell. That said, it does have its fans. Good luck with the Coming Together antho! I hope erotic horror catches on again soon. It's about time. I'd read it, for sure.
