Just Bein' Naughty

What does the word “naughty” mean to you? Here are some options, culled from dictionaries around the web: disobedient, mischievous, improper, indecorous, indecent, immoral, wicked, evil.

Were you naughty as a kid? I was, a tad – mischievous and a bit disobedient, at least often enough to have a little fun without suffering dire consequences. I know I drove my fourth grade teacher crazy – but hey, doesn’t every teacher need at least one class clown?

So it should be no surprise that I love being naughty in my fiction. I’m sure there’s a piece of my naughty inner child in nearly all my characters. I’m thinking especially of Meg Keenan (Meghan’s Playhouse), a bisexual sprite who loves bringing other couples together by sharing herself completely with each partner. Or maybe Jennifer Andrews (Swinging Games), who discovers her own bisexuality at mid life and throws herself into all the adventures the Swing Lifestyle can offer. And probably my favorite, Merry Delaney (The Merry Widow), conservative forty-ish widowed accountant who leaves no stone unturned to find out who she is and what her limits are.

I’d love to hear from you: Do you identify with any of those terms? Did you ever? What kind of naughty do you most look for when you’re reading romance?

Grab Your Passport by EM Lynley

Who loves to read? Did you all raise your hand? Okay, maybe only a few of you actually raised a hand. Good for you! Who likes to travel? I raised both hands, even in the privacy of my office. For me, books don’t get better than when they combine a great story with a real trip, even if it’s just from reality….

When you’ve had a rough day or a particularly grueling week, you probably can’t wait to get away from it all by escaping into someone else’s world in the pages (or pixels) of a book. We’ve all been there. I admit to reading for escape as much as simple entertainment. A good writer can make us feel we’re in another place, time, world or even in someone else’s body. A great writer makes us want to stay there and never come home. If only we could.

Have you ever read a book that made you want to visit a place you’ve never been? Not only give you a description of somewhere else, but immerse you in the sights, sounds, smells, tastes and textures, so you really are there? I love when that happens. And it’s what I’ve tried to do in my latest release, Rarer Than Rubies, set in Thailand and based on my own visits there.

It’s little things that drew me in, almost as much as the spectacular scenery of the countryside or the magnificent temples and palaces.

It was a special pleasure to bring little details and delights of Thailand, from Bangkok and its heat, so thick you feel it wrapping around every limb, to the dirty backstreets where all manner of trade–more than you’ve imagined–takes place.

Food is a special passion of mine, so I wanted to share the duck with anise and ginger and my favorite coconut drinks they serve “to go” with a straw in a plastic bag and a looped rubber band to hold it, boucing along as you walk and sip.
My goal is to make you want to book your flight right away!

[Read a foodie excerpt from Rarer Than Rubies.]

Ready yet?

Where would you like to visit based on a book you’ve read? How did the author make the place come alive for you?
I’ll share one of mine: when I was a kid I loved horses. Probably this sounds familiar to some of you, right? I read every horse-related book I could, including all of Marguerite Henry’s books. One of them was The Wildest Horse Race in the World about the Palio in Siena, Italy. The race has been going on for hundreds of years and it pits different neighborhoods against each other, so much so that married couples from different parts of town split up for the week of the race! It took a long time, but I eventually made it to Italy to watch the Palio. In fact, it’s featured in one of the books I’m working on right now. If you visit my website or personal blog you can keep up with details on when that will be released.
That dream vacation was based on a novel, but I’ve read some great travel writing. I spent a year traveling around Europe and Asia on my own and I read plenty of books to prepare. One of my favorite authors is Paul Theroux. If you want to take an adventure without leaving the house, be sure to check out The Great Railway Bazaar. I read it before I visited many of the places in the book and re-read it after riding on a hundred different trains throughout Europe and Asia. Theroux travels by rail from London to Tokyo as long as there was a train. If not, he flew, but he rode a hell of lot of trains and talked to everyone along the way. His observations about food, culture, plumbing, scenery, and those of his travel companions are priceless. I absolutely love train travel, and wish we had better trains here in the US. It brings you back to a different age and time when getting there was part of the excitement and lure of travel, and when people weren’t in such a damn hurry. Now we rush here and rush there and have lost the joy of getting from place to place and the people we meet along the way.
Have you made it to one of the places you’ve longed to visit? Tell us all about it!

A Walk on the Wild Side

Prostitution! Whether they call themselves escorts, working girls, street walkers, or call girls, prostitution is all around us. It’s also endemic with teen girls and was the subject of a recent CBS investigation. That’s something to think about, but that’s not the subject of my blog.
The idea of making a living selling their body is anathema to the vast majority of women. Though a shocking number of women, estimated to be over 2%, have been a prostitute some time in their lives. T
o my surprise, even an author I once interviewed had been a prostitute in a Nevada brothel for six months, supposedly to get background information for a movie she was going to be involved in.
Their reasons are as varied as their backgrounds. Many are addicts, either poor or rich, and have lost control of their lives. Others were born into the life, daughters of prostitutes, raised and abused to be prostitutes. These two groups fall in the lower end of the pecking scale. Though, I have sympathy for their plight, it’s the other groups, the ones who flock to the business that interest me. Particularly those, who have a romantic view of prostitution.
No, not the Dick and
Jane hea view of romance. The other, swashbuckling, free spirt, non-conformist, hedonistic view of romance. Women like Kate Ames in East of Eden, who rejected the love of two brothers to be a common bordello whore. Yes, I believe these women exist, yearning for the excitement of lying in various men’s arms, looking forward to the next john like a wrapped up Christmas present. Some are excitement junkies, wives working on the sly or with their husband’s permission. Some are kept women, who whore on the side and some are college students allegedly trying to make ends meet (estimated to be as high as 4% of college women) and hoping to start with a clean slate upon graduation. All these women interest me, but I find the college students intrigui
ng. That is partially why I wrote a series of novelettes called Consequences, based upon four stunning college women who spend an unsavory spring break one year as high priced call girls in Las Vegas. The first two books, April Showers and Angel Love are out and the third book, Mysta Ree, was recently released. These are naughty stories about naughty girls who try to become respectable, when their Las Vegas past slams eight into their lives.
Can it happen? Excluding Amsterdam, Las Vegas is the prostitution capital of the world, but with the advent of the internet, prostitution is blooming all over the country and world. And what about cam girls. It showing it all to anyone who wants to watch is acceptable to these girls are pornographic films just around the corner for some of them? I'm afraid the question isn’t can it happen, but how often does it happen.
What is your opinion?

Blurb
Picking up where Angel Love leaves off, Randy weaves his spell of dominance and protection over beautiful black haired, blue eyed Mysta Ree as he had over equally beautiful April and Angel. Reintroducing her to the alluring, exciting, glamorous life of a high priced call girl, she had all but given up, she is anxious to please Randy and herself. Therefore, she resumes the life she, April and two other friends left behind seven years earlier, when as college juniors, the four had spent a debauched two week spring vacation as escorts in Las Vegas.

Mysta Ree is the long awaited third book of the very naughty, popular Consequences series. Those who have read April Showers and Angel Love won't want to miss the very sexy followup.

Warning: There are extreme sexual situations in this book.

When the last of my pleasure shudders ended, Randy raised his head up and smiled. "Welcome back."

Randy rolled off me and I studied his well toned, mildly haired chest. "Whew, that was amazing. I didn't realize how inadequate my ex was until you showed me."

His head lolled back as he chuckled. "Sorry."

I wanted to hold him close, but I was still cuffed. "No, that's good. I'll never settle for hamburger, knowing I can have fillet again.
That is if I ever marry again."

His beautiful blue eyes thinned. "Pretty bad?"

I shook my head. "It wasn't his fault. I'm just too restless."

I stiffened as his hand slid between my legs and cupped my ever hungry sex. "Missed the life?"

"Ah-huh!"

"Want to get back to it?"

My eyebrows dipped. "Is that what Cindy and Helen are doing?"

"Yes, and we're making more money than Vegas. You want in?"

I eyed his slightly diminished, but still impressive dick and hitched my chin toward it. "I do, if I can have a share of that."

"You can. Would you like to start right now?"

"With you?"

He grinned. "Naw, we have paying customers in the hallway."

This surprised me. "Really? What would happen if I said no?"

"I don't think you will."

"But what if I did?"

"Then April or Angel would gladly take your place. The money is good."

"How much?"

"Two grand each."

I giggled as visions of hundred dollar bills floating down from above interposed over naughty images of what I had to do to make that money drifting through my mind. "Suddenly, I feel like getting my brains fucked out."

He laughed then yelled, "April, Angel."

The door opened and April and Angel, now dressed in flowing red satin robes and wearing masks entered. "Did you call us?" April asked.

"Yes. Cuff Mysta's ankles and put a mask over her eyes."

They edged up to the king sized bed and each closed a cuff around an ankle, then closed the cuff around the corresponding acorn on the footboard.

Spread eagle on the bed and naked, I asked, "Why are you restraining me?"

Randy smiled, "The customers like it. It makes them feel like you are their sex slave and they're in charge. Don't worry we'll be here the whole time watching out for our latest recruit.

April eased up to me, a mask in her long feminine fingers, then slipped the simple black mask over my eyes.

I wondered, "How many men are going to fuck me?"

She stroked my hair. "There will be six. All decent looking and your half will be six grand."

My breathing grew more labored. Even though I'd agreed, six men, seven if you count Randy, added up to a lot of fucking.

Randy spoke. "Angel, baby, send the first happy face in."

When Angel stepped out into the hall to usher the first john in, my pulse rate soared. I felt a tingling throughout my body from hyperventilating. I watched with apprehension as she walked the first customer through the door. April was right. He was decent looking. I'll be fine, once I get started.

Randy warmed me up, fondling my clit and nipples. His finger reciprocated into my slick channel and his thumb strummed my sexual bud while the first john undressed.

My nipples hardened, as the man's intense gaze scanned my body.
Despite his advanced age, his fairly hairy body seemed in good shape. His uncut wand wasn't hard, but with the aid of his fist, he grew hard. When he seemed ready, Angel sheathed his good sized pride with a condom. Gracefully clambering aboard the bed, he mounted me. I had no hands to guide him, so Angel directed his cock to the rim of my pussy. We sighed in unison as he entered me. He wasn't the pounding type. Instead, he fucked me with slow measured intrusions.

With a deep voice, he said, "You are very beautiful. I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to take my time and enjoy every minute of you."

I snickered. "Like they say, you're the boss."

His eyes sparkled. "Yes, for the moment I am. May I kiss you?"

I glanced at Randy, who shook his head. "Not unless you can get a condom over your tongue."

He laughed. "If it were possible, that would take the fun out of kissing you. Would it be all right if I lick your beautiful nipples?"

A chill passed through me knowing how much I like to have my nipples sucked on. "I would welcome that. My nipples are very sensitive."

Sexy Music and Contemporary Erotic Romance

Some time back I wrote and published Caressing Caitlyn through Sizzler Editions . The story is sweet, soft and erotic but a short piece, used initially to sell my ability to write on other story sites.  It's actually the ONLY form of promotion I really do aside from Social Media as it has results based on READERS.

I tend to love the music industry, primarily metal and Goth/EBM.  But this video I wrote more than my share of sex scenes to.  So, enjoy the song, buy the book when you're done and rewatch the video while fucking.

The song itself runs a little shorter than it should take to read through Caressing Caitlyn. And the book is only $2.95 so pick it up here!

A new beginning (or, Cassandra's kick in the pants)

When most people think about the year, they think from January to December. Not me. Like many of my fellow teachers, my "year" goes from August to June. Instead of thinking in terms of 2011, or 2012, I think "2010-2011" or "2011-2012." When other people get nostalgic on New Year's Eve, I'm still thinking of it as the middle of a year rather than the end!

For that reason, this is the time of year that I start getting nostalgic, and motivated. I wouldn't say this summer was a great time for me, creatively speaking. I went on some fun trips with the hubby, and spent a lot of time working out and straightening things around the house, but I didn't do nearly as much writing as I would have liked. I didn't even read as much as I wanted to.

Now that a new school year is beginning (I go back Monday, yikes!!!!), it's like I'm getting a sudden kick in the pants. Last week, I finally finished cleaning up a manuscript that's been sitting on my hard drive for what seems like an eternity. Not only did I clean it up and sub it, but it was accepted! Yay!

On top of that, I've been working on the sequel to that book, and I've also gotten a bit more done on another story I've been plodding along on. In a week, I've accomplished almost as much, writing-wise, as I did in the two months prior. I can't decide if that's awesome or kind of pitiful.

This is the time of year when I feel like I have to cram as much as I can into the last dregs of summer. It's a time full of possibilities, when I look forward to meeting my new students and finding out what gets them excited about learning. It's also a time when my creativity is refreshed and renewed. Just like January 1 for many people, it's a new beginning--and I'm ready to get started!

Any parents out there getting ready for a new school year with their kids? Any fellow teachers? To everyone else, when is your new beginning?

Partner Betweenness And My Upcoming Release

Elizabeth Black here, talking about sex again. A new study is out that found that, when it comes to straight men between the ages of 57 and 85, they may experience erectile difficulties if their wives/girlfriends/mistresses have close relations with other men. In other words, their willies feel threatened by the presence of other willies.  An article on the subject noted the following: "Benjamin Cornwell, a professor of sociology at Cornell University and Edward Laumann, a professor of sociology at the University of Chicago, describe the situation as "partner betweenness" -- in which a man's female partner has stronger relationships with his confidants than he does."

I found this to be true when I was younger and dated men in the younger portion of that age range. I had a semi-exclusive relationship with a man of 57 when I was 21. He was insanely jealous when any man so much as stared a bit too long at me. Granted, I dated plenty of men and had sex with more than one partner, so he knew there was competition. I didn't want to be tied down. He didn't have erectile problems, though. In fact, when he felt insecure about not being the only man in my life, he tended to be a bit … how do I put this? … spirited. He thrust harder as if he needed to prove to himself he was my best lover. I did have another man who was 50 who did have erectile problems when he was with me. It never occurred to me he could have felt insecure over being compared to other men – and he fell short. I liked to play the field, even though I had one serious relationship along with "friends with benefits" before it became popular.

Catherine Stone in my novel Don't Call Me Baby has a similar outlook but not those kinds of experiences. This book will be released by Naughty Nights Press in September, 2011. Here's a description of the book:

Don't Call Me Baby is a fast-paced, quick-witted, sexy novel about a young woman exploring her sexuality and the cultural morés she collides with on a daily basis. It's 1983 in Maryland and Catherine Stone is sex on wheels. She plays the field the way men have done for aeons. Not content to strive for her MRS degree like so many young women her age, she seduces men of all stripes - married college professors, theatre students, virgins, complete strangers who intrigue her. She has already cost one man his job. But she asks herself lots of questions on her search to enjoy her sexuality. Why don't other women enjoy their sex as much as she does? Why do so many women and men look down on sexually free women, calling them sluts while sexually free men are called studs and Lotharios? She bucks at the double standards!  Catherine has made no commitment to any man. She's free to explore and she gladly does so. No man can tie her down and no woman's judgment will stop her from playing the field to her heart's content. Does she meet her match in a new man who introduces her to sexual bliss she had never before experienced? When she tries multiple partners and bondage for the first time as a submissive, she believes she's found the sexual bliss she is looking for - and with a man who not only introduces her to the fineries in life but also cares about her like no man ever has before.

Keep an eye on my Facebook page and my web site for more information about Don't Call Me Baby as the release date approaches.

How Hot Should You Trot?

By A.J. Llewellyn

One of the questions new authors often write to me about is their sex scenes. It is obvious from my books that I am pretty comfortable writing the 'hot stuff' and as I always say, sex sells. But how hot SHOULD you trot?
In short my response is as hot as you can make it, but it HAS to make sense - AND it must be alluring.
Write what you know is the old cliche for authors and it is a cliche for a reason. It's true. We're writing fiction so this gives us a whole world to explore and titillate our readers.
However...
I'm seeing a disturbing trend in er...alleged M/M romance books that have scenes that are just grim. There is no other word for them.
I had to stop reading a book that had had an extensive scene with a coffee enema in it as a rousing sexual practice.
Eeeww~
Look, I am sure there are people out there who like 'brown sports' but most of your readers won't like it. And most publishers won't take it.I was surprised this one was published for that reason but I have since heard this scene was removed from an updated, renamed version of the book.
In other words, it was repackaged to actually sell...
So if you can't write what you know, know what you write.
So at least do some research and find out if gay men really enjoy doing this and if your straight female readers will get their romantic highs reading it.
It's easy to ask your friends on FB, Yahoo,Twitter, whatever...a plain old Google search also works...
Similarly, I stopped reading a book written by a prolific author in which her virgin male lead is fisted without any preparation, no lube and, improbably sitting on the roof of a car on an open road.
Hello? Is this hot?
NOT!
Plausible? Oh, hell no.
I think fiction is a safe place to explore your fantasies, good, bad, bold, whatever...but do a little homework first.
D/s relationships still seem to have a healthy fan base but the few I've read make no sense. Yes, it's fiction, but it takes me out of the book and makes me laugh my ass off when your sub is ordered to go to the supermarket dressed in his dungeon wear of puppy ass dildo (you know, the ones with the wiggling tail), leather g-string and a dog collar.
Judging by the extensive torture this clueless sub had just received it's apparent that blood is on his nipples and chest - all those needles, you know.
I mean, come on. Seriously?
Wouldn't you call the police if you saw a guy sniffing around the produce section looking like a torture camp survivor?
No, in this book, he shops and returns to his Dom, and more painful torture ensues.
Hot, or not?
Not to me.
Now, how about you?
I am curious about the weirdest, funniest, un-hottest scenes you read. Please don't name names, just give us the SCOOP.
Let me know what you think - I really want to know!

Aloha oe,

AJ

Happily ever after endings in a story.

Available @ http://www.bookstrand.com - http://www.allromanceebooks.com - www,romancedivine.com - Amazon.com Kindle Books
It was supposed to be a well-deserved, three-week tropical getaway for Kaitlin. It turned out to be an erotic nightmare when she was kidnapped and taken away by a dark handsome stranger. Josh Anderson had returned to claim his prize, Kathleen. When fear battles with love, when the desire to escape wars with the need to submit, it can lead to “twin” confusions and a case of…Mistaken Identity.

Josie prefers Tia her college roommate as a sexual partner. She doesn’t try to hide her bisexual state to Tia and her friend accepts her. Josie finds Tia excites her no end, but Tia believes she’s in love with Wade and wants to include him in a threesome with Josie. Will a menage work out, or lead to a disastrous outcome?

My blog today is about movies, books and happy endings. There is so much tragedy in our every day lives and this is proven when you pick up a newspaper or turn on the television. When I watch a movie or read a book, I enjoy losing myself in the plot and hope it has a hea ending.

Have you ever watched a movie and found you needed a box of tissues before it was over? Recently, I bought a DVD from Amazon and found that the ending caused me to burst into tears.

It was an older movie called Where the Red Fern Grows about a young boy that eventually saves enough money to buy two coon dogs. The male coon dog saves his master from a mountain lion and dies. The female grieves herself to death by lying on the males’ grave. After the female’s buried, a red fern grows at the sight. Thus, the name of the movie. I felt sad all that evening after watching the movie. I guess I’m an old softie.

The same thing goes for me with books. I hate to pick up a book and get all the way to the end to find the hero or heroine tragically killed in an accident. That ruins everything for me

When I’m writing a story, I always try to plot a happy ending. I’m not sure other readers feel as I do, but I’ll bet there are a lot of you out there.

Here are my questions for you. Do you like to see a happy ending in a movie or book? Does it bother you if the hero or heroine dies off as the film or book ends? I’d like other opinion to find out if I’m the only sentimental fool out there.
