In the UK the clocks went back an hour this past weekend, but they won't go back for the US until this coming weekend. The days with the changing of seasons are getting shorter, the weather's getting colder, and some of us may be wondering what happened to the days where we were wearing tank tops and shorts!
Some of us survive the cold and lack of sun less than others, and to those people I will give the following tips:
1) Exercise and eat right. Taking care of your body is more crucial now than ever. Eating crap will only make you feel worse, and the endorphins caused by exercise will help to elevate your mood.
2) When you can, spend time outdoors in the sunlight. It'll help to not wear sunglasses too, unless you are driving and the light is restricting your vision.
3) Watch your vitamin D intake! Get foods fortified with it or take a supplement.
And if you're really not doing well, try the following:
4) Buy a dawn simulator alarm clock. This may help you wake up in the mornings.
5) Get a sunlamp, preferably one that has 10,000 LUX.
6) Read up on seasonal affective disorder (SAD) and see what other treatment options may be best for you.
And for the rest of you loving this time of year, sip your mulled cider and munch on those apples! :)
Love & Magic,
Adrianne
