Twists And Turns In Fiction And June 11 Release Party For FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH

I like twists and turns in stories. Have you ever read THE MONKEY'S PAW? It's a creepy little tale about a husband and wife who come upon an ugly, magical, shriveled up old monkey's paw that grants three wishes. The husband is very wary of the thing but his wife wants her wishes so she wishes for lots of money. They soon get that money - as an insurance pay-out when their son dies in an accident. Grief-stricken, the woman grabs the monkey's paw and prepares to make another wish but her husband tries unsuccessfully to talk her out of it. She wishes for her son to come back to her alive and then hides the monkey's paw from her husband so he can't make the third wish. Frantic, he searches their closets and dresser drawers as this misshapen figure walks up the street to their house. He's still looking when that person makes his way up their walkway. Finally, when he knocks at the door the husband finds the monkey's paw and wishes the person to go away. When the wife opens the door, there is no one there.

That story scared the holy bejesus out of me when I first read it in junior high school and it has always affected my writing. My latest short erotic m/m story FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH is full of its own twists and turns, albeit none that are horrifying like in THE MONKEY'S PAW. "Probably another four or five hours. I'm planting fresh irises and feeding the Yoshino cherry trees. You'll love the irises. I found delicate blue ones that were forced only a couple of weeks ago."

"You're so kind to me. No danger of overwork, Syd, I like to tend your garden. It's very relaxing, but I need to get back to work now. Is there anything in particular you'd like me to do?"

Yes, I want you to make love to me. But she couldn't dare ask him to do such a thing. Watching Evan at work made every nerve in her body tingle with arousal, but there was little release unless she took care of herself. Her husband Walt lost interest in sex several years ago, leaving Sydney a very frustrated woman. In turn, she lost interest in him, and had grown accustomed to her passionless marriage, leaving her to fantasize about other men for many years. I'm only sixty-eight; too young to give up on sex. If only Evan could sweep her up in his arms for real as often as he did in her fantasies.
