Guest blogger -- Vonna Harper!

Please welcome guest blogger Vonna Harper!

RETURNING TO WHAT TURNS ME ON.
Its been an interesting month. On the plus side, I learned that my novella in the Ellora's Cave Down and Dirty anthology called Tracked Down will be re-released on March 19 as a single title. I've seen the cover but it isn't public yet so guess I'll have to keep that armed and naked man to myself. (Hard job but I'm up for it)

Also on the up side, I mailed off line edits for two summer Aphrodisia releases, the stand-alone Falcon's Captive (Aug) and my offering in Sexy Beast 9 (Sept). Going over line edits is interesting because usually I've written the story about a year ago so its fresh and I can be objective.

By golly, I really wrote that? Wonder where the idea came from.

Not on the down side exactly is the decision I made a couple of weeks ago to split the sheets with my agent. I have the utmost respect for her as a businesswoman. She had my back with Kensington and always went to bat for me. However, we disagreed about my attempts to write romantic suspense.

Romantic suspense is my favorite reading and I incorporate a lot of it in my erotica. Also true to what turns Vonna Harper on, I like to throw a little paranormal into much of what I write. My former agent isn't a fan of paranormal. When I was new with her, I pulled the paranormal element out of the first romantic suspense we worked on and she came close to selling it. (blame the economy).

Fortunately, I kept the original manuscript and recently re-read it and you know, it ain't bad. In fact it gives me the chills. I've written a lot of Native American spirituality and this one draws heavily on that. My task now is to see if I can find a home for it. Whatever the outcome, I'm excited and casting around for other things that go bump in the night.

Sure a lot more fun than working on taxes this week.

Good for you, Vonna! I truly believe if we as writer stay true to what really turns us on, there will be readers out there who will love it, too. And, like you, I don't just mean the sexy turn-on: plot lines, genres, characters, settings - if when we get done it still gives us chills and tingles and we long to be those characters and have those fabulous experiences, it'll have a market.

Congratulations, for sticking to your guns -and for all those wonderful releases!
