Put Down The Phone

Photobucket
Last year the law had been passed to ban talking on all mobile devices while driving. They law had kicked in around October and if you were pulled over the cops would give you a warning and or ticket. why the warning? well because they decided that they would give people the chance to get use to this new law and adjust. By 2010the law would kick in and you would be fined up to $500 dollars.

Do I agree that this new law was a great idea? You bet ya.

I've lost count the amount of times I've seen people on the phone not paying attention to where they are going. Making lane changes without signaling, cutting people off or having accidents. I even see people on the highway talking or texting and they are not even looking at the road. You are going 100km and you are paying attention to your phone...How smart is that?

All I know is the police will be giving out a lot of tickets since many people did not care about the law when it was first introduced and only warnings were given out.

What gets me is why would you risk your life and a life of someone else to text and drive or talk on your cell phone? you have enough to worry about when you drive. The phone can wait. If you have to use a phone get a hands free device or an earphone.

At one point we survived without the mobile phone. So please put down the phones, focus on the road.

I think that law is a great idea. We don't have that in Georgia and lots of people talk on the phone when they should be watching the road. Great post!

I am all for no phones while driving. Many years ago people lived without a mobile phone so what happened. I think some people has their phone enbedded into their ears by now but at least turn it off if you can't remove it. ha susan L.

I am so a firm believer in this law and I'll tell you why. Last year I was driving my mini van with my 3 younger children to school. Cars in front of me stopped. I stopped. The next thing I know BOOM! A woman in a full sized SUV slammed into the back of us doing 40 mph. She was on her phone, chatting, and not paying attention. She never hit the brakes. She hit us so hard that it totalled my mini van. We were lucky to just be sore and bruised up with whiplash as the worst of it and some cuts but if we'd been at a red light... she could have knocked us into oncoming cross traffic. Then she had the nerve to tell me that her cell phone broke, the force of the impact throwing it hard enough to break it in half. The entire back of the van was smashed in, the back frame bent, it tore the back seat from the bolts where one of my children was strapped in a car seat...and she's telling me she broke her phone that flew out of her hand??? I remember taking deep breaths thinking... if you jump on her and strangle her to death... the kids will get more upset. LOL.
