So, about two years ago, cocky little me came around and thought her work was hot stuff. So then, I subbed to a epub who kindly told me some of the things I was doing wrong with it. Well, I fix them, or so I thought, and still didn't get it. Wow! Who would have thought so much work goes into these things! Sheesh!
I joined this awesome yahoo group that has helped me a bunch. I mean, can't tell you how much it has helped me. Really, props to Faith and her AWH group goes out!
Also, my friends have helped me a bunch too. You can write, sure, but is it really good. I mean. Beta readers, don't sell them gals, or guys short. They know a thing or two. So on my yahoo group, Amethyst Winters and Company, I recently opened it up to any and all who ever want help, to just post that in their subject line and ask, anytime, any day. I mean, let's face it. If we whipped out a perfect novel the first time, well, we'd be...perfect. Raise your hand nice and proud if that describes you! All right wise guys, put them down.
So, my thought is this, who has helped you, or do you believe your writing is good enough the way it is. Lemme tell you, don't give me the "well, I'm published already" speel, because, I have read some stinkers, I mean hold your nose and use the book to light and keep you warm in the winter, stinkers, lol.
I told my group that I'm loving all the feedback I've been getting. It just makes me a better writer, so that when I am published, or the wip in question is published, someone will read it and say "wow! This was phenomenal!"

I have a tendency to bounce things off people like send a excerpt or two to fellow authors. Sometimes, I don't like their suggestions, but gives me something to think about.
I couldn't live without my crit partner, Beth Wylde. I also have several betas I can call on whenever I need a set of fresh eyes.
I think everybody could use another set of eyes now and then. It's hard to catch my own mistakes sometimes--too close to the material, I guess.
I'm always open to suggestive feedback. I figure my first MS making it through to publishing could be a fluke. I love my online critique group, and my editor is amazing. I learned so much just going through the process the first time.

KT, I understand about not liking their suggestions. It's interesting though, usually I find they are right!
Cassandra, oh yeah! I'm finding we are too close to it. I am at least. AFter 13 or so mss, I went back to one of the first and cringed. Yikes!
Nika, you're a good one hon! It's good to like your editing process. They are there to make our mss shine!
