A few years ago my folks decided to get themselves a flat panel television. The sales guy told them it would last them about 19 years if they watched it 8 hours a day.....
My parents don't watch that much television but still they were upgrading after their old one died after many years....They even got the service package from the store.
Now not even four years later the protection plan has expired....and you guessed it....The TV is broken...
Wasn't this suppose to last at least 19 years? Yup...Well it dies after not even five years...
Yeah I know stuff breaks but not when it is suppose to last the so called 19 years they tell you about....
They went to the electronics store to tell them what had happened.....I would be pretty pissed off as well considering the television was not cheap and it didn't even last a 1/4 of the time they said it would.
You want to know what the electronic store told them....Basically too bad....They even tried to sell them another TV...Yeah...
Urm I don't think so....As they were at the store the employees were feeding the same trash about a huge flat screen TV to another couple...
Now my folks are left with a broken TV...It is not cheap to buy a new one......
Warning, don't listen to what stores tell you....
What would you do in this situation?

I would have walked up to the couple they were trying to flim flam into buying and said:
"Hey, the tv won't last you but about four or five years. Ours didn't. So don't buy, and please don't get suckered into the extra money for protection. That doesn't work either. "
Hit 'em where it hurts, in the pocketbook.
The manufacturer should be held liable for claiming their product will last 19 years.
This is the party your parents should go after.
The greedy store owner should take some of the blame for advertising what the manufacturer told them.
It is just nuts, my parents were so pissed off and the store didn't care...They blamed it that this is what they have to say....All I know is that it is not over..My folks are going and complaining to the company who made the tv...
To put it lightly, this is bull....
The store won't take any blame for it ...They told my folks pretty much too bad...
Oh I'd get my bitch on. Definitely.
The thing is, most technology isn't lasting half as long as it's supposed to anymore. I wonder why...
Prince Sascha
they are using crappy parts and everything is made cheap.....that is why....
Well that stinks! I hate that for them. I've noticed that the newer televisions don't last as long. Why is that?
