Are you ready yet?

With Christmas coming soon, many of the houses in the foothills near me have decorations up, both inside and outside. My neighbors put up Christmas lights and have about eight blow-up decorations (the HUGE ones). Someone down the hill has one of those amazing-lights-everywhere-oh-my-god-don't-look-at-the-electricity-bill types of displays. The kind that people from 40 miles around drive to see and stop in the middle of the road.

And do I have anything done? Nope. No Christmas lights or tree, no decorations anywhere, and not a speck of Christmas shopping done. Am I Scrooge in disguise? No, actually I love the holidays. And if I had a live-in handyman, maid, and babysitter, I'd love it even more!

We usually start our decorating and everything about two weeks before The Day. So there's hope for me yet. Although I just can't wrap my head around shopping all year long for Christmas. I tried it a few times, and either forgot that I'd already bought something for someone, or forgot where I put it. I can't blame it on age, I've been forgetful since I was a kid. Now I just blame it on MY kids...

So how about you? Are you ready for the holidays, whichever holiday you may celebrate? And remember -- books make GREAT gifts for your favorite people, and e-books cost nothing to mail. Just in case you're like me and haven't finished (or started) your holiday shopping yet.

I usually wait until a week before Christmas to decorate the tree.

As far as shopping, I used to start early, but it seems everyone would rather have a gift certificate this year so that makes it all that much easier for me.
