OK so I know I'm not alone in looking forward to this movie. I have seen so many clips on line and it just looks amazing.
These books that the movie is based on have taken over. It is the biggest thing since Harry Potter.
This past week the cast was in Toronto at Much Music and the streets were packed. People stood out in the cold and rain just to get a glimpse of the cast members.
You can bet that once the movie comes out it will stay at number 1 for a long time.
I will try to read the first book before I go to see the movie. I will most likely wait a few days since the theaters will be jam packed.
How many of you have read the books? Are you planning on going to see the movie?
I think it is always interesting to see how a book is brought to life on the big screen. Sometimes they get it right and sometimes they don't.
Over the years there have been many books that got turned into movies. Some of the best ones were books. I know that the movies don't always include everything that is in the books but the best part about that is the viewer will want to know more and will go out and read the book.
Are there any books that you would love to see made into a movie?
For me it's too many to name but my first book would be any of the Sherrilyn Kenyon Dark Hunter books. She is just the best....
Plus it would be amazing to see my own books as movies....Who knows..maybe one day..

The only book I've seen turned into a movie that went right along almost 100% with the novel was The Green Mile by Stephen King. I was quite shocked by it. Loved the book, and I love the movie just as much.
Faith, that is one amazing movie..I love it....I have seen it many times....
My favorite is Anne of Green Gables. It followed the book very well. :)
As for Twilight, I am sorry I could care less. There have been so many spoilers out now that the only way I'll read it is if I borrow it from someone or the library. People should truly be careful what they write about in reviews.
Lord of the Rings! I loved the grandeur not only of the detail in the costumes but of the sets. New Zealand was a perfect setting for it - especially for the Golden Hall. And I was glad they kept fairly close to the script.
And hey, any more that has such hunks wielding swords and bows deserves kudos.
make that 'movie' not more. Stupid fingers.
Yeah, I'm not too thrilled about Twilight either. The fact that her series has so many inconsistencies (GLARING ones, might I add) and her formulaic writing just prove that any Joe can get a movie made of his book, no matter what talent is or isn't involved. I read the entire series and was not impressed at all, sadly.
It just makes me ill that someone who should know better actually doesn't.
But as for books being made into movies, the Neptune series would be absolutely EPIC as a movie series. EPIC. Neptune is such a dynamic character that he needs recognition...and Val's a carrot-top with a Christ complex. With a storyline like that, who needs Twilight?
I would love to see C.J. Cherryh's "The Pride of Chanur" made into a movie -- the ultimate space opera. It would definitely be better than the Star Wars pictures if the people doing it were at all competent.
I'd also like to see Heinlein's "Have Space Suit, Will Travel" (which I think is his best book) made into a movie.
Anne, yes I know there has been such a huge buzz there is much given away but I still would love to see it....
Leah...LOTR was the bomb..I so agree with you there
APendragon, i have to check out the Neptune series sounds fab
Barton Paul Levenson I havent checked that one out yet but will have to...
Thank you all for your great opinions.....
I had never even heard of the Twlight books till I was flooded with clips of the movie. I don't care to see it myself. I'm actually being put off by all the publicity. There's been so much that I'm just tired of it and it hasn't even opened yet.
It could be a great movie & great books. But it's like the whole Harry Potter thing. I didn't get interested in those movies until they came on cable. I still haven't read those books.
I generally don't like movies made from books. They are rarely as good as the book. Because there's so much stuff that you can't actually show in a movie. That can be described in a book.
I am looking forward to the movie The Lovely Bones, based on the wonderful Alice Sebold novel...in spite of my fear of what Hollywood will do to it.
Julie, that is understandable..the promo machine has been going full with this movie...
AJ, i have never heard of that one...i will look into it
I hear about Twilight all the time at the day job. My students are reading those books like crazy. I personally have not read them yet, although I do have the first one around the house somewhere...
I doubt I will see the movie b/c I hate seeing a movie before I read the book. I'm anal like that, lol.
i still have to read them as well....i wonder how different the books are and what they missed in the movie
Hey Sav!
I gotta say I really like Kiss the Girls. The book was better than the movie but I love me some Morgan Freeman and his portrayal of Alex Cross. His dynamic with Ashley Judd is always a treat in the movie. Scary, suspenseful yet fun to watch. :-)
Most movies don't measure up to what's written in a book. If I read a book and then go to see the movie, most times I'm disappointed.
Rae, I know that movie, oh i like it..
Mary, i think it's always hard to capture the book in a movie...
