Isn't this the most amazing picture? I love myths and legends. Heck, I live in Georgia and wanted to run out and look for Big-foot along with ten thousand other rednecks. I love finding old legends and weaving them into my stories.
I'm working on a manuscript right now with a cowgirl theme and I've found a wonderful old piece of history that most don't know to use as the foundation of the story.
Today my mind wanders to mermaids...
I am a creature of Fey,
Prepare to give your soul away.
My spell is passion and it is art,
My song can blind a human heart.
And if you chance to know my face,
My hold shall be your last embrace.

How that poem inspires and enthralls me. When my muse decides our other work is complete I may have to read this again- and write a novel that includes a sexy, erotic mermaid! What kind of things inspire you? And please tell me about your favorite legend...

Legendary figures in the old west such as Jesse James and Billy the Kid are my two favorite bad boys. Just reading about or seeing their escapades on the big screen inspire me to write a full length western. All I need now is to get off my butt and write. LOL
Kissa, that's a stunning picture and yes, legends inspire my books too. Goddess Pele, the Hawaiian protector of the volcanoes inspires and figures heavily in all my books. Loved this post, hon.

That is a great pic. Very inspirational. I've never written a story involving any creature. But mermaids are indeed sexy and beautiful. Very mystical and I find myself drawn to all the pics of them.
Artists always portray them in such a provocative manner.
And I love legends too. The book I have coming out with Freya's Bower in October is about a legendary pirate who at one time moored off the coast of North Carolina--another redneck area, lol--only I embellished this legend a bit and gave him a soul mate.
Very romantic. Great blog, Kissa, can't wait to see your Mermaid story.
Mary Ann, I'm actually kin to one of the old west gunfighters. I can't remember which one right now but he's buried in Oklahoma where a lot of my family still lives. Thanks for dropping by!
AJ, I didn't know that you used legends in your stories too. Great new thing to learn about you. Thanks for the comment!

Tess, what is the title of your book coming out in October? I didn't know a pirate was involved. I adore pirates- think I may have married one! hee hee
We bought an old camper and I plan to paint a mermaid mural on the bathroom wall. I used to paint a lot and I want to get back into it.

I love the picture and the poem. Write now I'm writing something inspired by Greek mythology. It is fun doing a little research.
But the thing that inspires me the most would have to be music. I hear a song and a story pops into my head. :)
PS...that is one of the things I love about AJ's book, all the interesting facts about Hawaii. :)
Yes, music inspires me also, Jambrea. Some of the Siren songs from the sea are so sad and nostalgic.
The character in the poem reminds me a lot of Medusa (particularly the last two verses). Myths and legends are fascinating. I'm also inspired by fairy tales, art (particularly Renaissance) and history - mostly Renaissance to the Deco era. Great blog, Kissa!
Thanks for dropping by Angela. I love fairy tales also. I'm in the process of developing a series of erotic fairy tales.

Legend Legend...I'm not sure I have a favorite right now, maybe the story of the Hungarian Spirit though you can't google that topic cause I can't remember what the book was called.
It told of how a seed grew into a tree, then was burned to the ground only to be reborn in the ash, as the spirit of Hungarian people is to fight and persevere, never divigating from their goals.
