Sorry folks, but I'm in denial! For many people--especially those who are in school or have children, fall begins right after the Labor Day weekend. For me, fall will not begin until the actual autumnal equinox. :)
The equinoxes in ancient religions and faiths were a time of honoring the balance of day and night, and also to bring on the oncoming cold or heat. During the fall equinox in ancient Greece, the Greater Eleusinian Mysteries in honor of Demeter and Persephone were held.
Today there are numerous Pagan faiths and mystical traditions which celebrate the Fall Equinox, and each have their own customs. Wiccans refer to this time of the year as Mabon, and you can read about it more here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mabon.
If you do something special in the fall whether it's housecleaning, parties, spiritual contemplation, or putting away of the white clothing, what do you do? How do you mark the passing of the seasons?

Considering how blistering hot it is in my part of country, Fall is like a joke waiting for its punchline. In Hawaii and California, the two places I call home, you don't see much of the Fall until the evenings. Then in my humble opinion, one must roast marshmallows in a fireplace as often as possible!

I love the fall season and can't wait for it to begin. Just like you and Adriana, I wrote a blog about two weeks ago on the fall season that I'm going to post on the 13th. I'm not copying off either of you, I promise.
When the fall season hits our area,I feel so energized and in a happier frame of mind.
I don't do anything to mark the passing of a season, only look forward to enjoying most of them.
