You know what I’m talking about. Those Bad Ass Boys who make you go ahhh. We’ve all been there done that! Some of us more than others. God knows I’ve had my share and no matter how Bad they get, I still love them.
I love writing about those Bad Boys too. My Gabriel’s Ride Series is all about the baddest of ‘em all…Gabriel. This Bad Boy rides into town, sweeps a gal off her feet and changes her. For better or worse? I guess it’s like beauty-- all in the eye of the beholder. And in my opinion, Gabe is one beautiful man.
Bad Boys are cocky and arrogant. Infinitely masculine with an unmistakable wildness about them. They literally ooze confidence. They’re like a dose of oysters and chocolate—a walkin’ talkin’ Love Machine.
And they’re untrustworthy and have commitment issues.
So why do we find them so irresistible? I did a little checking and there are some very logical reasons behind our insatiable desire for Bad Boys.
Some research actually indicates that it may very well be physiological. Just as nature provided us with sexual desire to ensure survival of the species, it’s entirely possible that our attraction is primal when it comes to Bad Boys. Our bodies seek superior males of the species with which to mate and produce our offspring. And I’m going to make an assumption here. That superiority must be on a purely physical level because trust and commitment need to figure into the mix somewhere when looking for father material.
From a psychological standpoint we may attribute our attraction to our hidden desire to throw caution to the wind and risk everything. And with Bad Boys that includes our heart. Think about our fascination with those oh so sexy vampires, werewolves and swashbuckling pirates. Bloodsuckers, flesh eaters and thieves! And yet we absolutely salivate as we turn the pages of those sizzling romances don’t we? I’m just as guilty as all the rest of you!
Then there is this. It’s our low self-esteem that makes us seek out those Bad Boys. Me? Low self esteem? Get a clue!
To sum it up…
It really makes no difference what the reasoning is. Who needs a reason? Bad Boys are here to stay. And I for one am truly grateful. YUMMY!
