Worth all the effort(Beth Wylde)

Today I'm going to blog about some of the great benefits of being a writer. We whine about the bad stuff all the time but now I'm going to focus on the positive aspects, the parts that make all the hard work and mental effort worthwhile.
The first great event in any author's life is the writing. Otherwise why would we do it? LOL Getting that first manuscript finished and polished to within an inch of it's life and sending it off for submission to a reliable publishing house. (I've been burned before but now I do my homework before I submit anywhere)
Then after months and months of waiting and stressing it arrives, the glorious acceptance letter, the official offer that will make you a published author if you accept it. The only thing I can compare the feeling to is great sex or really great chocolate. ^_^
Then you get assigned an editor and you begin the grueling or not so grueling process of edits. (Thankfully I have a fabulous editor with both of my publishing houses)
Then there is the ultimate moment. Release day. The day you can advertise your work to the world and hope that everyone that reads your promo will run out and buy a copy of your book, thus making you a famous author so that you can stay at home and live by doing what you love so much. (That last thing hasn't happened to me yet but I'd like it to!) Then you sit down and work on your next story and your next....

I love the writing process. You are right about the acceptance, then editing, and finally the release. It is a lot like sex!

If I couldn't write, I think my brain would implode from all of the ideas. I need writing as my creative outlet!

I love the writing and the acceptance, but I HATE the waiting!

I guess all in all, though, the good things outweigh the bad. Thanks for the reminder :)
