"Hello, Anachronisms R Us... what can we do for you yesterday?"
Time travel historical romances, science fiction romances featuring time travel... time travel in general is pretty popular in the erotic romance genre. It allows the main characters from the modern day world to find themselves swept off to medieval Scotland, ancient Egypt, a future Earth--and many other romantic destinations.
My favorite time travel series is sadly not a romance, but has held romantic plots as of late: Doctor Who and Torchwood. Fans of science fiction programming should check them out--especially if you like m/m and f/f as Torchwood contains plots of both.
For this blog, I'd like to ask readers what's YOUR favorite time travel destination for romance? Is it a time? A place? Or both?
And where would YOU like to end up as the romantic heroine or hero?

mmm, great questions. I'd have to say - boy, as soon as I started typing, I was flooded with not one but several! Celtic times, for sure, and Avalon, whether it existed or not! We've sent characters both directions in time but we've never placed an entire novel in another time reality.

Well now it's Dr. Who and Torchwood, thanks to you. lol.
This is the kind of question that makes my head explode. I'm not good with choosing just one. LOL
I would have to say, I'd love to lived in the old west. I have a thing for cowboys. ;-0
I'd have to say that I'd love to be in Doctor Who as the next companion myself. :D :D
Ancient Greece would be my destination followed by some random place in the future, just because.
One of my favorites was The Book of True Desires written by Betina Krahn. It wasn't a time travel but a historical that was set in South America. Jungle, jaguars, steamy, steamy, steamy... loved it! I do read Lara Santiago's novels. She writes futuristic, and all the heroes have been genetically enhanced to be outstanding lovers. Wouldn't mind zipping through time and space to meet up with one of those, either. :)

I'm not too familiar with Torchwood, but I do like Time Travel. Haven't read any lately though.
Great post, Adrianne.
I think that exploring time travel in fiction is a great way to explore new avenues, time periods, and cultures throughout history. I love the concept and think that it works nicely within romances and erotic romances.
(I reallly do recommend those tv shows, but I'm a scifi/fantasy geek...)
Lol one of my first memories is a Doctor who episode. I was about 3 I think...and Sarah Jane was host to alien spiders. Still really creepy.
So...I love time travel and and had way to much fun writing my first one - 7% and Rising.
I recommend having a stab at writing a time travel romance. It makes plotting really...interesting *grin*
Great question and I would choose back in the day of Dragons, Knights and Fairies! A gorgeous highlander and a castle would be right up my alley!
Have a great day and crossing fingers I win your contest! :)

i would love to be on the Galactica...it's space and a different time...yes I'm a fan of Battlestar Galactica
I have a thing for the Regency period, for some reason. Victorian or even Georgian England would be good too, though.
One of these days I'm going to write a time-travel. I've got the idea but there are too many other things on my plate right now.
Great post, Adrianne. I've thought about this in the past and would have to set the time and place: the eras of Roman, Greek or Carthinian prosperity, and other times/locations where washing and bathing was routine. A remote location wouldn't do for the same reasons. I always think about hygiene, whether reading or writing tales. Wonder if I'm odd?
Medieval Europe is fascinating until you remember the Black Death and cholera. That whole bathing only once a year is pretty icky too. At least the Vikings took weekly baths.
Part of any romance is idealizing certain aspects of the place, the man and the relationship. As long as a writer doesn't insist on absolute historical accuracy on certain things, I'm up for just about any time period.
