Sex, Stress, and Scents (Sense?)

Okay,
This may be for my own edification (not that I particularly look to improve my morals...if you've read my book, you'll know what I mean.) Perhaps others will find it helpful, although there is an opinion/question at the end, so be careful!

Writer's block can come in various forms and just as many methods abound to eliminate it. For me, I believe stress is the primary factor in writer's block and since I have been recently suffering from it, I have tried different ways to cure it. I finally found my answer:

Cookies!

Not eating them....no, no, no...I cook them. Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Raisin, and Spritz/Butter Cookies. The eating I leave to others. Nope, I discovered in the last month and a half that:
Plotting my way through writer's block doesn't work for me.
Talking my way through writer's block doesn't work for me.
And writing my way through writer's block DEFINITELY doesn't do it for me.

Now, from what I understand about stress, there are several ways to relieve it (I do not digress--remember I said, Stress is the primary factor in writer's block [see above]) chief among them exercise (blech..), meditation (zzzzz.....), and then of course the tried and true method for just about anything that ails you--sex. Unfortunately, that one is out of the question for me--no husband, no significant other...and I don't do the musical bed thingy.

So, I tried cleaning, writing, driving (now with gas prices so high...out of the question) nothing was working until someone asked for my Oatmeal Raisin Cookies. And someone else asked for my Chocolate Chip Cookies. And another person asked for my Spritz/Butter Cookies.
And lo and behold, after a marathon night of cooking cookies my answer was born (or baked you might say.)

The scents permeating my apartment had ideas bubbling in my head that had been mired down for too long. Even better the smell of oatmeal, cinnamon, and chocolate got me all tingly and imagining some wonderful (and I do mean sexy, wonderful) scenes in kitchens, with cookie dough (I don't eat the baked ones, but watch out for the raw stuff! I don't care what people say about eggs...I luuuuurrvvvv my chocolate chip cookie dough!)

So, now I'm wondering...when stress has you all blocked up (not your bowels, your brain!) What do you do to unwind?

**By the way, let me know if you'd like my recipes--I'll post them or just send them in an email to you**

Wow, you should open a bakery and the words would never quit flowing. LOL

My problem is I love cookies, so this wouldn't work for me. I wouldn't write, I'd eat.

Mmmm, sounds like the perfect way to work through writer’s block! Now I’m feeling the munchies, and all I can find in my kitchen are store-bought Oreos. Do you ship to Canada, Qwillia!!

MMMMmmmmm, smells good already! Comfort scents, just what the doctor ordered! And actually, not just the scents permeating your house, but taking a break and doing something you love to do, another key to solving writer's block. Great blog!
