This week at MSA, we are looking at books with adventure. I know that a lot of readers out there enjoy adventure stories, since it allows them to escape to a whole new realm. But did anyone ever stop to think that we are living out our own adventures everyday? Your own life is just as much an adventure as any well written book. Granted, it may not be a thrill a minute, vampire hunting, roller coaster love story, but don't let that make you think any the less of your personal achievements.
In Little Leather Book, one of my characters is a young woman who embarks upon a very sensual adventure.Taking the first job that she is offered on leaving university, she goes to work in a castle, where life holds some very startling surprises for her:
Climbing wearily down from the ladder, she placed the pile of books that she had been gathering onto the floor before brushing her hair back from her face. Despite the fact that she usually wore her brunette locks in a ponytail, there was always an air of dishevelment about her. Her father had once remarked that she was typical bookworm with her eyes suffering from too much reading and her appearance always seemingly thrown together.
She eyed the tea tray thankfully. Her morning coffee was quickly becoming a welcome relief from her day’s activities. Sipping the hot liquid as she stood, she marveled at the work that she had been able to accomplish in such a short space of time. Had it really only been a month since her graduation from Oxford?
The library at Harlestone Castle was a drop in the ocean compared to the grandeur of the Bodleian, but the atmosphere and the history were, to Claire, just as magnificent. Moreover, with the antiques and artwork that surrounded her on a daily basis, she could almost imagine herself back in the Ashmolean. It was almost as if she had never left the rich history of Oxford at all. Sighing, she smiled again. Yes, fortune had indeed been kind to her when she had been accepted for this job.
I love to write about characters who embark upon adventures, since it allows me to tag along for the ride LOL.
What I would like to know from readers of the blog today is: What has been your most amazing adventure? It could be anything from parenthood to a fantastic vacation, but it does have to be something that stands out for you, in your list of personal achievements. Remember, we are all on the adventure of life and we need to make the most of it.

I think my biggest adventure has been life in general.
In the movie HOOK, Robin Williams has this great line I've never forgotten.
At the end Wendy says that his adventures are over, and Peter smiles and answers...
"Oh no. To live...that will be an awfully big adventure."
IMHO, living life to the fullest is the biggest adventure anyone can ever have.
Hi Megan! Great blog! I agree that life is an adventure. It's been happy and it's been sad, but I wouldn't change one single part of my journey since it has made me the person that I am. It's all been interesting that's for sure: school years, life in a small town, to college life in a larger town, on to a professional, married life in a big city, and then of course, the biggest adventure -- Kids that then made us move back to Kentucky so I have babysitters and family close to help!!!
Hi Megan! What a great way of looking at life - and if you can see adventure at every step, it certainly means you get the best out of life. I may not have had the exciting sexual adventures of your heroines *lol* but I've always thought the important thing in life is to keep an open mind and an interest in everything that's going on around you. I think that keeps me young in spirit - though the kids age me on a daily basis *haha* - and gives me plenty of fun.
Specifically?! My adventures include making a vocal CD, travelling from the UK to San Francisco on my own (and back!) and getting a book published! Oh, and kissing Lennox Lewis the boxer at a company function... LOL
Happy weekend, everyone! Keep seeking those adventures!!

I haven't had my single most amazing adventure yet. At least I hope I haven't. I think we should all look forward to bigger and better and brighter.
I'll let you know when I have mine...of course the very next day I'll be looking for another one. lol
Hugs,
Tess
I have to agree with CJ that life is an adventure. I look forward to the things coming my way and look back to all I've done.

Besides the adventure of daily life, the biggest one I can recall is driving (twice!) between Virginia & Florida and back with my best friend Lis and her kids. The first time it was all four children, the second time it was only the two younger ones. All of her kids are special needs so it was an extra challenge.
During the first trip from FL back to VA, we were driving down a dark stretch of highway at night. No streetlights for miles. There was a truck in front of us that hit one of those big orange construction barrels and the thing came sailing straight back at us and clipped the side of the van. It ripped the side mirror off and put a big scrape down the driver side door. I was driving during that stretch so if it had been six inches more to the right, it would have come through the windshield and hit me. That was about 3am. Woke the kids up, scared the hell out of us but nobody was hurt, just the van.
I think I am going to have an even bigger adventure in two weeks when I move from Florida back to California and I am driving this time. When I moved here to FL, I flew and shipped my belongings. This time, it's all in a Uhaul trailer that I'm hauling behind my SUV. I am really looking forward to seeing so many parts of the country I have never been to before. It's just another part of my new adventure in my personal life: learning how to be single again.

Hi Megan,
great blog! Actually, I think being a meek librarian by day and a writer of hot erotic romance (including some stunning vamp stories) by night definitely qualifies for an adventure!
I'm with Tess - I've had lots of great adventures and wouldn't want to have to say which one was biggest, but I hope for even more in the future.
